The Boston School of Herbal Studies is excited to offer a 4-day immersive Herbal Summer Program for children!
Nature teaches us how to relax, be in the moment, and breathe more deeply. Through the use of movement, interactions, and experiences, each child will gain a greater sense of their connection and gratitude for the natural world around them. This strengthens resilience to stress and anxiety. It is vital that we remember how to connect with the natural world and learn to respectfully integrate its abundance into our lives.
Our goal is to re-connect each child with the natural world, to educate them on how plants and people can work together, and to create a community with nature, and each other. These reminders help to create balance for all of us, our communities, and for the planet.
This is the third year the Boston School is offering an Herbal Summer Program for children. We've expanded to a 4-day program which is designed to introduce children ages 8-12 to the world of herbs, their benefits, and their uses. It provides an opportunity for children to deepen their relationship with the natural world through plant identification, herbal medicine making, nature walks, and plant-based art projects.
We are planning an exciting program this year! Below you’ll find some of the activities covered.
Here are some of the activities we are planning:
Identification of the plants growing on Sweet Autumn Farm
Respectful harvesting of medicinal herbs to be used for activities.
Making salve while learning about its ingredients and the roles they play in the healing process
Aromatherapy
Herbal tea making
Nature-inspired meditation, yoga, and mindful outdoor practices.
Nature has a positive and lasting impact on our physical, mental, and emotional health. This herbal program provides a safe, inclusive environment for children to learn about plants, discover the wonders of nature, and deepen their respect for the Earth and its inhabitants.
We will meet at Sweet Autumn Farm. This beautiful 14-acre organic farm in Carlisle is woman-owned and operated complete with a farm stand, and chickens!
