Plant Walk

Learn to identify healing plants in our area. Medicinal plants are everywhere - in our backyards, along the streets we walk, and in open spaces all around us. We will look at plants ranging from the familiar: dandelion and plantain, to the less well known: motherwort, burdock, and ground ivy. You will learn which parts of the plants are used medicinally and how they nourish us and support health.

Walks take place sprinkle or shine - if it is raining hard enough to require umbrellas, the walk will be canceled.

Native Herbalism - Plant Attunement: Connecting to the Sacred Plant World

The focus of our 2024 Second Level Herbal Training is the Energetics of Herbalism.  We learn to attune to the herbs as our bodies resonate to the plants’ energies. The weekends will include extensive materia medica, case histories, studies and stories from herbal practice. The focus will be on the inter-relationships of plants, people and the environment. With this understanding, we are able to get to the root cause of problems.

Over six Intensive weekends, we will deepen our formulating skills, attune to the plants, and listen to our bodies.  We will journey to the Plant Spirits where deeper connections provide insights into plant wisdom, and we will engage in healing rituals with plants and ancestral energies.

Using the lens of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), we will learn to see the connections between heat conditions in our bodies and the heating of our environment. We will explore TCM diagnostic tools: face, tongue, pulse, sclera and nail assessment. These tools help us to discern the underlying patterns in the body.

Sturbridge Herbfest

This Herbfest is a brainchild of three local herbalists: Salli Greene, Jo Anne Grubert, and Chris Haller. There are very few herbal conferences nationally and none in this area. This can make it difficult for herbalists, young and old, male and female, to gain more education in a conference setting. Sturbridge, because it is centrally located, is an ideal location and is expected that the Herbfest will be an annual event.
